The Facade Retaining System as designed and certified, in an exposed, (no facade) environment will
provide a minimum design life of fifty (50) years. The design life offered is a calculable period
derived from information stated on the durability reports compiled by Industrial Galvanizers Corporation
. The supporting documentation.
When the wall increases in height the steel structure and zinc coatings increase in thickness, subsequently
the design life of the system increases. It is also an option in the marine / severe marine category to
increase the design life of the system by the addition of an applied coating.
As stated the design life of fifty (50) years is offered on the system where it is exposed. When the system is clad with a selected facade, it is then protected from the environment. The fifty (50)
year design life will increase exponentially by the design life offered by the selected facade supplier / manufacturer.
It should also be noted that the selected facade, can be easily removed at the expiration of its design life period or failure,
leaving the retaining structure intact and ready to commence the next period of design life.
There are a number of products suitable for use as cladding for the Facade Retaining System.
The products and their design life are as follows:
Product

In conclusion, the design life of the Facade Retaining System is as follows:
1. Exposed: Fifty (50) years
2. Clad with Selected
Facade: Fifty (50) years plus the design life of the selected
facade.
